ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE TOMOGRAPHY
|
Magnetotellurics MT measurements are used to detect anomalies produced by electrical conductivity variations in the subsurface materials. MT measures resistivity contrasts with depth similar to the resistivity method except does not need the extensive cable and large separations which can be affected by anthropogenic interference. The soundings consist of measuring the resistance for a progression of frequencies and inferring the variation of the resistivity with depth. MT provides high resolution electrical conductivity for depths between 30 to 3000 feet below ground surface.
